I am Patricia Monique
I am a filmmaker dedicated to crafting narratives that resonate with and uplift audiences who possess a sense of compassion. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production and a Bachelor of Science in Digital Cinematography from Full Sail University. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed screenwriting skills that enable me to bring stories to life effectively. When individuals engage with a film or streaming content, they anticipate an entertaining experience from the beginning to the conclusion. My objective in every project is to create a compelling experience for viewers that captivates them from start to finish.
Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, provided me with a deep appreciation for each season and a nuanced understanding of the complexities surrounding racism. The winters were characterized by cold temperatures and occasional snowfall, while the summers were marked by extreme heat. During the 1980s, I engaged in outdoor activities from sunrise until the streetlights illuminated the evening sky. My childhood involved participation in various sports and explorations of developing neighborhoods. I rode my bicycle down dirt hills and uncovered trails deep within wooded areas. Our adventures included water balloon fights and unauthorized access to residential swimming pools; these pursuits were seemingly limitless. Nonetheless, during that period, a significant portion of society maintained a belief that our community was not regarded as equals. Consequently, I often refrained from expressing my thoughts and observed as my mother articulated her experiences of mistreatment due to her race. These encounters have profoundly influenced my development into a passionate individual devoted to filmmaking. I aim to capture both joyous and challenging moments while illustrating the crucial importance of equality.
In today's world, nearly everyone carries a camera device to capture moments, and my 83-year-old grandmother is no exception—she actively documents what she believes is worth filming. However, what sets my work apart is my intentional storytelling approach. I have honed my skills to not only capture compelling footage but also to edit images that resonate deeply. Over the past year, I’ve taken on exciting projects, including mini-documentaries, short films, and my thesis film. I firmly believe that people should invest their time in what they love, and after embracing my passion for filmmaking as a major, I'm fully committed to this path.
